8 days

It's coming closer and closer. This week was a lot of shopping. I didn't even realize how much I needed until I went shopping. I need to sustain myself for 4 months in Africa with two suitcases. Unreal.
I recieved some more donations from the following people:
The Miller Family
The King Family
The Mauss Family
Thank you so much to those who have donated. I promise your money is going to a good cause. I am excited to show you what your money is going to this summer as I keep you updated on this blog. It's funny because people ask me exactly what I am doing there and honestly I don't even know. Okay, I do, I'm creating sustainable projects and assessing the needs of the people but in all reality I'm basically just showing up and being put to work. I just can't wait to get to know the other people going with me and interacting with the people of Uganda and being completely out of my element.
YOLO. (You only live once)

3 weeks!

Exactly 3 weeks until I leave for AFRICA!
I got my immunizations yesterday and I was actually quite nervous about them until it just happened and it all went fine. The doctor gave me a nice pep talk about food safety and safety in general.
He is a good man.
I was then shot in the left arm twice with Yellow Fever and Typhoid and the right arm with Hepatitis A.
This resulted in sore arms the next day but ya know it's worth not getting a deadly disease while in Africa.
I also recieved more donations from these lovely people:
The Stratford Family
The Kinnison Family
and Sister Brown!
Seriously thank you guys. It honestly is such a big help.
I still got much stuff to do until I leave, better start making a list!

The Flight Is Booked!!

Well my flight is finally booked! (A quite expensive one, I might add)
Here's the plan: I leave May 8th from LAX to Chicago. From there I fly to London, England were I have a 12 hour layover where I am planning on meeting up with all the others that are going to Africa and taking a quick tour around London.  (This is blowing my mind as I am typing this by the way considering I have never been out of the country). Let's seeeee from London I fly to Kenya and then fly from Kenya to Uganda!!! I spend almost 4 months in Africa and on August 22 I leave Uganda and fly to Paris, France. My roommate Emily lives in Germany (5 hours away from the airport) so she is going to pick me up and were going to spend a couple days in Paris and hopefully meet up with my friend Miles who will be serving his mission there. I come home on Saturday, August 25, that is, if I end up getting on the plane in Africa. Everyone I talk to is convinced I will be staying in Africa and won't come home. Hahaha. I am just so excited to see the world and forget about myself and serve people in need for the whole summer!!!

Donations

I am so grateful to know that people care enough for me and the people of Africa to donate their own money towards my trip. I felt a bit awkward asking for donations but it was the only way I could afford it! So far I have recieved many donations that have far exceeded my expectations.
