Thanksgiving

I hate goodbyes. I would rather not say goodbye.

The walk from the Boda drop off to the village is probably my favorite walk everrrrr

An organization that we partnered with that connected us with the village set up a whole day full of fun and activities. They called it Thanksgiving to thank us for all the work we did with them over the course of the past 4 months. To start off the giving of thanks we made Chipote!
I found out a new way to cut cinnamon rolls.

I found my little friend
After the Chipote making we (the community health workers and others from the village) all made a circle around the health clinic and held hands. Someone said a prayer to dedicate it to God.

We built this. Literally.
Obsessed with these beautiful ladies.
 The remainder of the team
Little Enoch and E-zip-line. When I first met the one I call Ezipline, that is what he said his name was so ever since it stuck hahaha I found out at the dental camp his name is Ephraim. Close enough hahaha
I planted 3 trees in Africa! Fruit trees. Not sure what kind of fruit but fruit trees nonetheless.

 I really enjoyed planting.
 Plant-ing trees. Plant-ing trees.
Next up was dressing the children with local materials. We got bamboo sticks and leaves and made head dresses for the children. Somehow we had face paint and that happened to. This was my favorite. I was making the children look like tribal Africans in Africa. IT WAS AWESOME
Cute Enoch is always so smiley. I love it. I did such a good job and he returned the favor haha
If there were awards he would have won best dressed.
We were not expecting the extravagent meal they prepared for us. It was incredible. Every single kind of African food that we have had in Africa we had at our last time in the village. Rice, beans, chipote, posho, matoke, scuma, avocado, african chicken, beef, and other things that I can't seem to remember. We were not expecting any of it and couldn't believe they made all this food for us. It was so sweet.
In case you couldn't figure it out already, I am obsessed with this little boy.
We watched the children sing and do their tribal dance
 We had to join, obviously.

Saying goodbye to Derek is when it hit me that I am leaving Africa. The worst is that everyone in the village was asking when I was going to come back and I really didn't have an answer for them. I want to come back but I just don't know if it's possible. Little Derek doesn't even know I'm leaving but somehow managed to steal my heart for the 38th time and kept saying my name over and over and over. He was even holding onto my leg and I seriously couldn't leave him. So I brought him back to Mbale with me and I'm adopting him! I just lied and I don't feel bad about it because I wish more than anything that could of happened but it didn't. He has a life here and I decided he is supposed to grow up in Africa and be around tribal dances and all that cool African stuff. Maybe one day one time I can come back for him and give him all the pictures I took of him as a child. That would be rad. I am so grateful that I was able to be able to work with such amazing people at the village. They have changed my life more then they know.
